Abstract
Talent retention remains a critical challenge for private organizations in Abuja, Nigeria, amidst the backdrop of intense competition and economic uncertainty. This study examines the influence of various human resources (HR) activities, including recruitment-selection, training-development, compensation-benefits, performance management, and employee engagement, on talent retention within private organizations in Abuja. The research adopts a survey research design, collecting data from employees of private organizations in Abuja through a self-administered questionnaire. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) is employed for data analysis. The findings reveal that recruitment selection, training-development, and employee engagement significantly impact talent retention within private organizations in Abuja. However, the direct influence of compensation-benefits and performance management on talent retention is found to be less pronounced. These results highlight the importance of aligning HR practices with organizational goals and employee needs to foster a more engaged and committed workforce. Practical recommendations are provided for HR practitioners and organizational leaders to enhance talent retention strategies, including prioritizing investments in recruitment-selection and training-development initiatives, promoting employee engagement, and reviewing compensation and benefits policies. This study contributes to understanding factors influencing talent retention in Abuja's private sector and offers actionable insights for organizational success.
